Is there anybody there?

Right, LiveJournal seems to have finally crashed and burned - and even if it gets back up, the recent track record really does not inspire confidence.

Why have I stuck with it for so long? Because the community of friends I have over there is something I really don't want to lose. Since a lot of my pals who feel the same are over here, I think the time has come to dust off my placeholder Dreamwidth account and start using it properly.

That'll do for a New Year Resolution, won't it?

Right, first thing to do - see who else is posting hereabouts...

For the benefit of the couple of comments to my LJ which I've got via email notification -

I will continue to crosspost to LJ as long as I can, from DW and also from my the blog-front-page of my website julietemckenna.com - and yes, my technical advisor's doubts about LJ's long term future were a major factor in that aspect of my website redesign...

As of this afternoon, I have been able to see my blog once, not log in, not click through to read comments let alone answer them, not read friends' posts. Not much use, really.

Current anecdata would seem to indicate this is much more a UK problem than for US users.
