You see, catching sight of a blog title on someone else's blog, I have had a thoroughly terrifying idea for a short story. Full-on, super-creepy, lose-your-nerve as well as lose-your-lunch horror. Of the kind I absolutely do not read, never mind write. What use is that?
Whereas a writerly pal who does exactly that kind of work, finds herself with an unexpected comedy chick-lit scenario. One SF writer I know has had at least one whole book arrive way ahead of schedule while an elegant fantasist of my acquaintance has had a series of SFnal ideas that don't seem to be abating.
Just how widespread is this interference?
