Speculation, Fact and Fiction

The always courteous and chatty delivery chaps have just turned up, with the entire order as placed earlier in the week, nothing unavailable or substituted. Granted, the shop had rung earlier to say they couldn't guarantee time slots today but promised a delivery would appear. And it did. On time, in my instance.

The aforementioned chaps remarked, with modest satisfaction, that they hadn't seen a single Somerfield, Sainsbury or Tesco home delivery van out yesterday or today - and one customer had said her sister was spitting tacks because Asda apparently had just rung to say they'd cancelled the entire day's worth of deliveries. Not rescheduled, just binned.

To be fair, it's nastier driving today than it would have been yesterday. We had another couple or three inches and it has been snowing heavily most of the morning. But warmer, so the roads are now inches deep in slush which is presumably worse for traction. I am not about to venture out and establish that. A hard frost is promised for tonight, which will make tomorrow very dicey on the roads.

Another day in beckons, with sons and assorted pals coming and going. Not ideal for work purposes. I think I shall tackle the filing and play a few CDs while I do so.
