Kinda. Three inches worth, as measured with a ruler on the roof of my car. So, no big deal, or it wouldn't be, if local councils still had the wherewithal to clear minor roads. I gather the main road is open but dunno how I'm supposed to get safely off the residential development where we live...
The schools are closed, probably on account of so many staff unable to get in. Because for eg, they've cancelled all the buses outside Oxford city, according to local radio. So the lads are happily xboxing. Till I go and insist homework diaries are checked and some schooltype work is done.
Husband rang full of scorn from Warwickshire. He and Bob got to work fine - er, okay Bob does drive a Land Rover... But husband, like me, does recall walking to school through a foot or more of snow as a kid. (yes, and we lived in a cardboard box in the middle of the road and breakfast was a cup of cold grit, all right)
Did we get more snow then? Were councils better at clearing roads? Were there in fact a whole lot more road accidents etc that we were blissfully unaware of as we played snowballs?
Well, I am about to find some warm boots and walk down to the Tesco's to see if they consider delivering milk to their shops essential travel. That's about all we're short of. Then I shall contemplate a day with the accounts, since that's work that can be done easily enough with noises off and sundry boy-related interruptions.
