Okay, for local values only. Those in the northerly reaches of the North Americas and those in continental Europe are fully entitled to snigger. But significant snowfall is that rare hereabouts, local authorities simply cannot justify the spend on equipment to cope swiftly and efficiently. Hence London and Kent grinding to a halt, as far as I can tell from the telly news this morning.
Thus far we've only had about an inch in the Cotswolds. The lads tuned in eagerly to the list of school closures on local radio but no luck. Hmmmm. I do wonder if I'll see them home at lunchtime. Schools on the far side of Oxford are closed and the weather is definitely heading this way. We currently have snow falling and a sky that promises more of the same for a good long while.
The cats are not impressed, but taking what positives they can from the situation. As a rule, when it's only me in the house, the heating's set to go off once the lads leave, come on for an hour at lunchtime and then come on again after school. With just me in the study with the door closed, that's fine. Today, I'm keeping the heating on, so the cats are currently snuggled up by the radiator.
And now I am going to go and research the history of the Henley Regatta.
