For the first time in however-long, we had a weekend. As in leisure.
Well, okay, senior son and I had to go shopping for new school trousers and trainers for him, but that was done and dusted before lunch on Saturday.
So then we variously spent our time on computer games/book reading/telly of choice. I got to sit and read the Saturday paper in its entirety at one sitting. Over the weekend, I finished Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspeare (couple of 'yeah, right' plot moments but overall a sufficiently promising first in a series detective novel to incline me to buy the next one), read all of Natasha Cooper's A Greater Evil (cracking good read as always) and made a solid start on Andrew Taylor's Naked to the Hangman (achingly good).
We had Chinese for dinner on Saturday. As cooked by me, not thanks to the phone/takeaway menu from The Water Margin, Witney (reliable, affordable, tasty and a life-safer in recent months). Not only cooked by me but involving dishes with several stages of preparation and fangling. Very rewarding.
And we've watched the first half of Battlestar Galactica series 3 on DVD. Coo-er.
But now it's Monday morning and it's back to work for me. Sons are currently x-boxing, back to school on Wednesday.
No plastering/painting will be happening this week on account of plasterer/decorator having been held up on another job on account of last week's rain (long story, don't ask). Tiresome but ho hum, that means I get to work in comparative peace this week. So, er, I had better go and do that then.
