Speculation, Fact and Fiction

Thank goodness for Bank Holidays, that's all I can say. A day off. For mother values of 'off' that will see me shuttling some laundry between washer and dryer.

The weekend was spent on the preliminaries for Phase 3 of the Grand Redecorations. Which doesn't start till next week, 1st Sept, due to various factors. But the sorting out needed to happen now the sons are home from Granny's, so we're not all sleeping in the lounge.

So, younger son is now sleeping in one-third of his fabulously redecorated room, along with his possessions and almost all the contents of our bedroom. Senior son is sleeping in one third of his spiffy new room, along with our disassembled bed and the contents of the study. Which have been carefully set up so I can work in a corner up here next week, what with the sons still on school holidays.

I will pause here to give thanks for marrying a husband with such excellent visual-spatial awareness.

En route, more stuff has been earmarked for Oxfam and another slew of bin bags were filled. Now I ache like I used to after a weekend's live-roleplaying.

So, the study and our room will be replastered, redecorated and get new doors. Then new carpets. Then we shift everything out of the sons' rooms into the study/our bedroom, and they get new carpets. Then we shift the minimal furniture currently in the lounge-diner (table, chairs, sofa plus side table, telly) and that gets new carpet. Then we begin emptying the garage of all the stuf we put in there way back when.

At which point, personally, I think we can stop. The trebuchet can stay in the shed.
