jemck at 10:09am on 05/08/2008We're just back from Ireland, visiting family and then spending a week in a holiday cottage in Co.Cork. All very last minute, as our summer plans abruptly changed from 'doesn't look like we're getting away, does it?' to 'we can go away as long as we do it NOW'.
And a very welcome and relaxing time was had by all. I read a whole bag full of books that were nothing to do with work, plus tremendous progress was made on the grand house redecorations in our absence. There's definite advantages to clearing out entirely when the whole downstairs is being replastered and painted. That phase is very nearly done!
Not that we can put the lounge back together just yet - the carpeting has to wait till all the plastering and painting throughout has been done. But yesterday saw extreme amounts of dusting and a fair amount of sorting of stuff, plus dealing with laundry, email, real post etc etc etc.
Today sees me embarking on proof-reading Irons in the Fire - that package from Solaris was in the post. As was expected, so it's not a shock. And hey, that'll distract me from the fact that everyone else* is in Denver or at some other convention having a fabulous time. Sigh.
Right, better get to it. And then crack on with Book 2 - once I've reminded myself what's actually going on there. That's one of the minor downsides of taking a two-three week break!
Expect me some time around the end of the week, probably.
* 'everyone else' in the teenage boy sense of 'everyone else has Sky+/an au pair/their own Xbox 360 in their bedroom'. So, not really.
