Just at the moment I know what my son means when he says 'I wish I was a cat'.

It's been a busy week. Few weeks. Month. Year.

A life that revolves around the sofa and snacking looks very appealing.

Plenty of ticks in the plus column, like last night's TWF gig in Aylesbury Library and today's lecture in Oxford - on the city's tradition of fantasy fiction, to 80 or so students here to learn English at one of the 'proper' language schools. Who mostly already had enough English to chuckle in the right places. And the powerpoint slides worked - yey me.

(Which means I now have a 45 minute illustrated talk on Oxford and Fantasy Fiction, suitable for a library/lit fest type audience as opposed to a more knowledgable fan/convention one, if anyone's interested... prices to be negotiated...)

Have done assorted bits of non-my-fiction-related reading and writing. Have very nearly cleared my committments there. Do have one largish thing still outstanding. I can see me working at least one day of the weekend so I can get back on track with Lescari Book 2 aka Blood in the Water on Monday.

Which is when senior son heads off on a school trip to Ypres at 7.30 am. So, prep for that to be done over the weekend, plus an early start. End of next week is end of term so firm holiday related plans must be made - notably shipping sons off to my mum's at some point so I can get some concentrated work done in their absence.

Done a whole slew of domestic admin over the course of the week. However more remains to be done. Hopefully that's another thing I can clear over the weekend.

Like I said, cats don't really have all this to cope with.
