A day of HTML here as I've done some New Year type updates to my website. Where the big news is the publication date of the first Lescari Revolution book is now Spring 2009.
That's on account of one of those long and involved stories where because of this, then that which means because of this, then that and so on. Nothing that will surprise anyone who's been on the writing/production side of publishing in the least. Ho hum. Such is life and all that kindathing. I shall be cracking on with the agreed deadlines for the second and third books regardless.
On the plus side, the artist being briefed for the cover is D V Palumbo. Having seen what he can do, I am really excited to see his interpretation of these characters and their world. Really excited.
In other news, I am doing a days of creative writing workshops for Oldham schools in February, along with several other writers contributing to their Gifted and Talented programme. In April, I'll be talking to Hertforshire's country librarians about SF&F at their annual training day. I've been asked to explain the genre's appeal to those who don't know much about it - and to address the things that might make the general public reluctant to read it, with a view to ways around such obstacles. Feel free to chip in with ideas there, folks.
March is going to be conventions month, with Orbital, the 2008 Eastercon and then P-Con in Dublin, where of course, the estimable
mizkit is guest of honour. Yey. Really looking forward to both of those.
