This week's targets? Well, not going to make the chapter-structure target though I am ahead of the game on overall word-count. This is entirely on account of needing to leave at lunchtime for FantasyCon in Nottingham this weekend. If I could just crack on till midnight or whenever, yes, it'd be done.
Catching up next week? Not likely as I have to be in London on Monday for The Society of Authors AGM and also Wednesday to speak to the BSFA. Both of which will be fun and informative. And I'm going to hear a head honcho from Random House give a talk on Thursday evening which will hopefully be informative. Which is why I just cannot justify heading into London on Tuesday to hear Neil Gaiman interview Susanna Clarke - dammit. Oh well.
So it'll be nose to the grindstone the week after to make up the necessary ground. Which is doable. Honest.
And what was that about aspiring writers? Go and look for a copy of SFX in your local newsagent. Just had my subscriber copy hit the doormat and it has their short story competition book in it this month. If you're not keen on short stories, that's not the point. There's an intro by Geoff Ryman, a list of do's and don'ts by the SFX team and a trenchant article of advice from Jo Fletcher of Gollancz. Worth the cover price in anyone's money.
right, must go and do stuff!
