Speculation, Fact and Fiction

This is the thing I found myself doing pdq before we went on holiday. It was joining a bunch of other writers in pitching ideas to the BBC for a limited number of radio play slots.

My particular ideas didn't make the cut when The Man decided which ones should go forward to the next round, where the initial 300 word pitches get expanded to two pages, plus sample dialogue. Then there'll be another cull of those and the lucky finalists will get commissioned.

Well that's a damn shame as it would have been great to have a crack at something new like that, to stretch a whole new set of writing muscles. So, yes, knickers and rude words.

But such is life and I am a big girl now and thus expected to act like a grown-up, so having said knickers and rude words, I didn't kick the cat but went to find some chocolate instead.

And I've learned new stuff about the radio/audio game that may well come in useful somewhere down the line. And made a couple of new contacts.

And they're good ideas now tucked away in the Ideas Bank, and they don't have any kind of 'best before' or 'use by' date on them.
