We actually have sunshine and pale blue sky lightly brushed with high, fine streaks of white cloud. Goodness, what a difference that makes to morning morale after days and weeks of grey and windy wetness.

It's a shame we don't still have an open fire. I could have collected a goodly supply of kindling on the way to school this morning, from all the quite sizeable bits blown off the trees.

Given we live about as far as it's possible from the coast in England - in any direction - we don't tend to get really high winds very often. So when we do, I know anyone closer to the sea is really getting a hammering. Sympathies to anyone who's been battening down the hatches.

Phew. That's that, hopefully.

For the week or so before Christmas and since New Year, I've been doing a wholesale redesign and update of my website. It's not quite ready to go live but if you want a preview, click here.

What I've still got to do is sort out the new einarinn email address, and do some other email admin, mostly so I can bin my old @dial.pipex.com addresses which are now subject to a blizzard of spam on a daily basis. Trend Micro's PC-Cillin deals very efficiently with the nonsense but I still have to scan the junk folder for the very rare false positive there. I have better things to do with my time.

Anyway, that's that.

Once I've backed it all up to my data key and the external hard drive. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean your primary working hard drive can't die on you.

Hopefully the Gollum-like effects of hunched shoulders and glassy, staring eyes after weeks of peering at the source code will wear off by the close of play today.
